Make once-in-lifetime hiking to the stunning landscape of Phoksundo Lake

Phoksundo Lake Trek

Phoksundo Lake Trek takes you to one of Nepal’s most stunning natural wonders – The breathtaking turquoise Phoksundo lake. This deep blue water lake has been gaining attention since the filming of Eric Valli’s Caravan documentary in 1980, which is located in the Shey Phoksundo National Park.

Getting to this remote spot of Dolpo entails a four-day trek from Juphal airstrip and two internal flights. The trek passes through oak and juniper woods, rich farmlands, and barren highland terrain where white wolves, Himalayan blue sheep, and uncommon snow leopards still dwell.

The Phoksundo Lake trek is more than just beautiful vistas; it’s also about cultural history. The Tibetan way of life has not changed, and the practice of the pre-Buddhist Bon religion continues.
